RENT
RENT — Costume Designer | Harlequin Theatre (2025)
Rent tells a deeply human story of artists and friends navigating love, loss, community, and resilience in New York’s East Village. For this production, I approached costume design as a lens into identity and belonging — allowing clothing to reflect each character’s emotional landscape and changing relationships.
Drawing from the show’s gritty yet celebratory tone, I developed a visual language rooted in layered, expressive wardrobe that honors the period while supporting character arcs. Silhouettes, texture, and color choices were grounded in collaboration with the director and performers, evolving organically through conversations and movement exploration.
The design process emphasized authenticity and nuance, ensuring that every costume serves both narrative clarity and performance functionality.
