Wait Until Dark
Wait Until Dark — Costume Designer | Harlequin Theatre (2026)
A psychological thriller set in a shadowed New York apartment, Wait Until Dark follows a blind woman who must outwit criminals searching for a mysterious object hidden in her home. The production builds tension through isolation, perception, and shifting power dynamics, culminating in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Design Concept
The set, costumes, and lighting were conceived as a unified greyscale world to evoke the visual language of classic film noir.
My design approach used tone, pattern, and texture to signal trust, deception, and misdirection, while employing layered prints, distinctly 1940s silhouettes, and action-driven costume choices—especially for Susan, whose sturdy, Oxford shoes and trousers support falling, running, and navigating the dark.
